About us – The Center for Family Enterprises

About us

The Center for Family Enterprises (CFE) at the Cracow University of Economics was opened on 27 January 2016 to serve as a center for the research on the functioning and development of family firms and as a unit developing and offering educational programmes for current and future leaders of family firms. The founder of the CFE – prof. Aleksander Surdej (below) is also its current director.

THE GOALS OF CFE

CFE collects and generates knowledge about family firms by conducting its own research and developing research and educational cooperation with leading international academic family business centers. In addition CFE works with family firms to identify their problems and to work out general solutions based on rigorous academic research.

ROOTS AND EXPERIENCE

CFE benefits directly from the results of INSIST project funded by the EC and implemented in the years 2014-16. It also takes advantage of many years of family business research conducted in the CUE by prof. Aleksander Surdej and his collaborators, including two international conferences on the topic (in 2009 and in 2012) and many academic publications.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES

CFE has designed, thanks to the INSIST project, a teaching programme for family business current and future leaders. The teaching programme will be offered at several levels targeting young business family members (NAPO I), older participants (NAPO II) and young family business managers (NAPO III).
